What are the 7 Main Steps of Hajj

Hajj is among the 5 Pillars of Islam which are mandatory to perform by the person at Least Once in their life who is Financially Capable and Physically Able to carry it. Hajj is performed in the Specific Month i.e. Dhu al-Hijjah from 8 Dhu Al-Hijjah to the 13 Dhu Al-Hijjah. Mainly Hajj is of three types :

• 1. Hajj-i-Qiran: If a person wants to perform Hajj-i-Qiran he/she has to wear the Ihram with the Niyat/Intention of both Hajj and Umrah i.e. pilgrim can perform Hajj and Umrah at the same time. In this, the pilgrim performs Umrah first and after the completion of Umrah performs Hajj and also performs Qurbani (Sacrifice of Animal).
• 2. Hajj-e-Ifrad: Pilgrim performing Hajj-i-Ifrad has to do the Niyat of Hajj only as in this type of Hajj, the pilgrim can perform Hajj only and if one wishes to do the Qurbani can do it otherwise it is not mandatory.
• 3. Hajj-e-Tamattu: If a pilgrim wants to perform Hajj-e-Tamattu he/she has to do the Niyat of performing Hajj-i-Tamattu at the time when wearing Ihram. In this type of Hajj, pilgrims perform the Umrah first and after the completion of Umrah, they can wear anything or can do anything as they are not in a state of Ihram nor in the state of Umrah. They can be in the same state until the Hajj days reach. Then they have to perform Hajj in the same manner. Most of the pilgrims usually perform Hajj-e-Tamattu as they get enough time to perform Hajj and Umrah. In Hajj-e-Tamattu there are nine steps that you have to follow to complete your Hajj and these are as under:

Step 1: As Hajj starts from 8 Dhu al-Hijjah, the First Step on the 8 Dhu al-Hijjah is to wear the Ihram at the place you are at and need to perform Two Rakat of Namaz. After performing the Namaz you have to do the Niyat Of Hajj by Saying ALLAHUMMA LABBAIK HAJJA and start Saying Talbiyah. On the Same Day i.e. 8 Dhu al-Hijjah, we have to Reach Mina up to the Zuhur Namaz.

On Reaching Mina reside in your tent and offer Namaz of Zuhur. You can offer Namaz in Masjid also as the Masjid in Mina is Masjid �i-Khair but the masjid is a Bit Far from Mina and there is No Availability of busses so if you wish to go to the masjid you have to go By Foot otherwise you can also Perform Salah in your Tent but you have to keep in mind you have to offer Namaz-i-Kassar because Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) has performed the Namaz in Hajj in the Same Way. This is All You have to do on 8 Dhu al-Hijjah.

Step 2: On 9 Dhu Al-Hijjah you have to reach Arafat by continuously saying Talbiya and on reaching Arafat offer namaz behind the Imam in Masjid Nimrat or else you can offer namaz in your Tent.

Step 3: Wakufi Arafat: Wakufi Arafat means to Sit in the Arafat and make dua for yourself as well for the One who has told you till Dusk. Wakufi Arafat is Mandatory and if a pilgrim doesn`t perform it they have to wait for One Year to perform it.

Step 4: After dusk, we have to move towards Muzdalifah, and the first thing is to search for a place where you can sit and offer Magrib Namaz as Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W)has said You should perform Hajj in the same way as I have performed. After performing the Namaz you have to collect the Stones whose size should be the same as the Size of a pea and collect 49 Or 70 Stones. After collecting the stones pilgrims can have Rest but they should keep in mind that they are still in a State Of Ihram and there is a certain restriction laid upon them. They have to follow the Procedure Carefully otherwise Dam becomes wajib.

Step 5: On 10 Dhu Al-Hijjah we have to perform Four Steps in a day, so after performing Fajr Namaz we have to Leave from Muzdalifah and have to Reach the Mina. The First Step on the 10 Dhu al-Hijjah is - Among 49 Or 70 Stones we have picked from Muzdalifah we have to keep 7 Stones with us and have to perform Rami Jamarat i.e. to throw stones to the Shitan. There are 3 Shitan i.e. the smaller one, big and bigger one. On the First Day, we have to throw stones at the Bigger Shitan by saying Bismillahi Allahu Akbar and have to return to the place we are residing at.

The Second Step is to perform Qurbani i.e. to sacrifice an animal. You can either do it by visiting the place where Qurbani is done or you can just Pay The Amount to the organizers who are organizing the Qurbani.
The Third Step is to do Halaq or Kasar i.e. you have to shave your head or you can either trim your hair as well. After performing the third step you are Now Free from the Restraint Of Ihram but for the Married Couple, there is still a restriction i.e. you cannot have Intercourse until the Fourth Step is completed. However, you are free from the rest of the restraint of Ihram.
The Fourth Step and most important step in the entire Hajj journey are to perform Tawaf-e-Ziyarat. In order to perform Tawaf-i-Ziyarat, we have to Move From Mina and have to reach Makkah in order to perform Tawaf around Kabba. During this Tawaf, you Don�t Have to do the Rammal i.e. walking fast in the first three rounds of Tawaf. You have to do Tawaf Normally starting from Hajr E Aswad to Hajr E Aswad and in between Hajri Aswd To RUKni Yamani you should say the following dua i.e. Rabbana Atina Fid Dunya Hasanatan Wa Fil Aakhirati Hasanatan Waqina Adhaban-nar.
After the Completion Of Tawaf perform Two Rakat Of Namaz opposite to that of Muqami Ibrahim, drink plenty of Zamzam, and Perform Sa`ii. When all this is done we have to Move Again to the Mina to perform the rest of the Hajj rituals. If a Hajj pilgrim is Unable to perform Tawaf-i-Ziyarat on the 10 Dhu Al-Hijjah he/she can perform it Until 12 Of Dhu Al-Hijjah but have to perform Tawaf-i-Ziyarat as it is the important Hajj rituals and if a men or women return home Without Performing Tawaf-i-Ziyarat they are not Halal to each other as the Restraint Of Ihram i.e. you can't have intercourse is still on you.

Step 6: On 11 Dhu Al-Hijjah we have to throw stones at All The Shitan i.e. from the smaller one to the bigger one, with 7 Stones To Each. After throwing 7 stones to the shitan we need to Face The Qibla and make dua but facing the Qibla after throwing stone has to be done for 2 shitan only i.e. the smaller and the big one but once you throw stones to the Bigger Shitan you Don`t have to Face The Qibla but you can move and can go to our tent.

Step 7: On 12 Dhu Al-Hijjah we have to throw stones at all the Shitan i.e. from the smaller one to the bigger one, with 7 stones to each. After throwing 7 stones to the shitan we need to Face The Qibla and make dua but facing the Qibla after throwing stone has to be done for 2 shitan only i.e. the smaller and the big one but once you throw stones to the Bigger Shitan you don't have to face the Qibla but you Can Move and can go to your tent. Or if anyone wishes to Leave Mina they can but the only condition is that they have to Leave Mina Before Dawn as their Hajj Journey has been completed.

Step 8: On 13 Dhu Al-Hijjah if a pilgrim was unable to Leave The Mina before Dawn they have to perform the Hajj Ritual in the same manner as they had done on 11 And 12 Dhu Al-Hijjah i.e. we have to throw stones to all the Shitan i.e. from smaller one to the bigger one, with 7 Stones To Each. After throwing 7 stones to the shitan we need to face the Qibla and make dua but Facing The Qibla after throwing stone has to be done for 2 Shitan Only i.e. the smaller and the big one but once you throw stones to the Bigger Shitan you don`t have to face the Qibla but you can move and can go to your tent. But after the completion of the Hajj Ritual At Rami Jamarat, we have to Leave Mina no matter what Before Dawn as our Hajj journey has been completed now.

Step 9: Tawaf-i-Wida: This Tawaf is performed at the End Of The Hajj Journey as it marks the End Of The Hajj Journey In Makkah. This Tawaf is Wajib on each and every pilgrim but if a Woman is on her Periods during Tawaf-i-Wida she Doesn�t have to worry as Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) has said It�s Ok for a woman who is having her periods not to perform Tawaf-i-Wida as her Hajj Is Completed without performing Tawaf-i-Wida.
After the End of the Hajj Journey In Makkah, we move to the Madina to have a visit to Ziyarats of Madina and a visit to the Mosque Of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H). It is obliged to visit Madina so that we can pay tribute to our Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H). It is believed that performing Two Rakh Of Namaz as Baitul-Masjid in the Prophet`s mosque is Better than performing Namaz anywhere else than the Makkah. After Namaz, Hajj/Umrah pilgrim Stands before the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) Grave and greet HIM by saying Asalamualaikaya Rasoollah, then pay salutation to the Hazrat Abu-Bakr (R.A) and at the end pay salutation to the Hazrat Umar-I-Farooq(R.A). Prophet (S.A.W)has said the place between the Mimbar(the place where Prophet S.A.W taught the Namaz) to my Graveyard in between lies a place which is among the Paradise, so the Umrah/Hajj pilgrims should try to offer Nafil Namaz there if possible.
After Leaving Masjid Nabvi we will reach the graveyard which is known as Al-Baqee and we should say the dua which is taught by our Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W). There is also a Masjid in Madina which is known as Masjid-i-Qubaa and we should go there to offer Namaz as Prophet (S.A.W) has said the one who offers Namaz in the Masjid-i-Qubaa his Rewards is equal to that of Performing Umrah. Hajj/Umrah Pilgrim also visits the Uhud to pay salutation to the martyrs of the Uhud battle and all others who are buried there. The pilgrims should visit the Madina as the Prophet (S.A.W) has made Dua to the Madina and for the One who visits there.
